Queen Bea of White Speed
“Callie”
BPIS
Queen Bea of White Speed A.K.A. “Callie” is our import White Swiss Shepherd from Serbia! This sweet girl is the first prospect and foundation of our breeding program. I did countless hours of research trying to find a pedigree that wasn’t well known in the States to help bring down the inbreeding coefficient here. That pedigree is now our wonderful Callie!
She is very spunky and full of life! Callie has a very balanced temperament and has a natural off-switch in the house. She is very sweet-natured, loving, and loyal. She has a very high threshold for training and commands and so that means she has a solid medium-high drive.
We recently had Callie professionally evaluated by an amazing trainer that specializes in White Swiss Shepherds and was told that Callie has an amazing temperament and could throw puppies that would be great in sporting prospects, working, and service and therapy homes.
At Ivory Arch, we aim to be as transparent as possible. The reason we had Callie evaluated is that she is going through an intense fear period. She is leash “reactive” and dog “reactive”. The purpose of the quotations is to accentuate that the term “reactive” does not mean aggressive. With much research and more evaluations, we have come to the conclusion that her reactivity is not genetic, but situational. Callie is just SO excited to play and meet people/dogs that she is loud about it. Initially, I was concerned about aggressiveness and would pull her out of the program if that was the case, but thanks to our trainer, she confirmed that Callie is in no way aggressive whatsoever, would be a great breeding bitch, and an amazing in-home service dog prospect.
Because of these hiccups in Callie’s life, we have made the hard decision to retire her. She has not had any litters, but because of her temperament, we believe that she is not a good representation of the White Swiss Shepherd breed and would do better in a pet or sports home than with us. I love her very much and have poured my heart into her but sometimes these things don’t work the way we’d like them to.
Callie has placed first in Novice Puppy twice and won Best Puppy in Show!
